Blue crab…Time to eat
Blue crab tasting session, in a participatory approach among fishermen, administrations (GIPP, CRDA, UTAP), students (INAT and ISET Jerba), University professors (INAT) and civil society ( El Mindhar Association, Mellita Development Company and all the Governorate GDAPs: El Grine, Ajim, Houmt Souk, Boughrara, Guellala and Hessi Jerbi).
This action was launched to encourage and stimulate the consumption of this crustacean, very present on the Tunisian coast. The aim is to transfor the problem of this species invasion into an opportunity that will increase the fishermen incomes.
According to a document distributed during this event, the blue crab contains a large amount of protein and a low content of saturated fats, which gives it undeniable dietetic virtues.
More than 1500 people, both Tunisians and tourists, took part at the event. It received the favorable opinion of all the participants and contributed to spread the will to introduce the blue crab as a key element of Tunisian gastronomy.
