Prohibited the collection and marketing of molluscs in some areas along Morocco

The Department of Sea Fisheries has prohibited the collection and marketing of shellfish in some designated Moroccan Mediterranean coastal areas. The results of the analyses carried out by the National Institute of Fisheries Research in those areas revealed abnormal quantities of poisonous marine substances in shellfish, as pointed out on Monday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development.

The source added that in the light of those results, the Department of Sea Fisheries invites consumers to buy only packaged products bearing a label and sold in authorized sales outlets (official markets).
