Iftar in Marsa Matrouh
The thematic Iftar was organized on 10 June at the Magdy Restaurant, as part of the activities implemented at Marsa Matrouh by the NEMO project to support the local coastal community. Iftar was prepared by the three Italian chefs Carlo Esposito, Francesco and Vincenzo Montaruli, guests of the project, together with the Egyptian colleague Farag El Awary. The team has developed innovative recipes using local desert herbs like spices.
The objectives of the event are to raise awareness among the institutions, local governance and the main players in the sector, on the value and the social, economic and environmental importance of some fish species caught by the local fishing community, but little appreciated by consumers.
The NEMO project is implemented in Egypt by CIHEAM Bari and financed by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development (AICS ) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
