World Food Day 2018 in Tunisia
Tuesday, October 16, 2018, in the Auditorium of the National Institute of Agriculture of Tunisia (INAT) was held the celebration of World Food Day 2018 in which the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Samir Taieb and the Coordinator of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Mohamed Omrani, participated.
World Food Day is one of the most important event of the United Nations calendar and aims to intensify actions towards the Zero Hunger goal. FAO offices around the world, governments, local authorities and partners in more than 130 countries participate in this event to remind the world that the Zero Hunger in 2030 is possible through a global mobilization that takes into account lessons learned, best practices and results.
In Tunisia, this year’s World Food Day coincided with the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the National Institute of Agriculture of Tunisia (INAT), one of the oldest and most prestigious national institutions that contributed to the development of the agricultural sector and national food security.
For World Food Day 2018, the title “Act for the Future” was chosen, underlining the importance of intensifying efforts to eradicate hunger in the world and directing efforts towards creating new opportunities that will allow everyone to lives healthy and productive life.
