The maghrebine artisanal fishing at Malta conference

The Maghrebine artisanal fishing platform participated in the high-level conference on Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea which took place from 25 to 26 September 2018, in Malta.

Organized by the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea (GFCM) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and supported by the European Commission, it aims to encourage concrete actions in support of small-scale fishing in the whole region.

The Maghreb platform took part in panel 2, on improving livelihoods for small-scale fishermen and panel 4 on the role of platforms for involving and promoting cooperation in the small-scale fisheries sector for a regional fishermen’s network.

The North African platform supported by the FAO / SEN was selected for an award as an exceptional case at this high level event.

WEBPORT is the digital port of the Mediterranean. It is designed and edited by CIHEAM Bari. It started in 2014 with the support of the Italian Agency for Cooperation to Development.

The pages of Albania and Montenegro were created and implemented as part of the CO.CO.TOUR project funded by the INTERREG IPA CBC Italy - Albania - Montenegro program.
