WEBINAR | Online seminar about biological standstill and fishing networks
On Wednesday 20 September 2017, the online appointment on Webport was held, which allowed the fishermen of Nador to meet the Mediterranean communities of Himara (Albania), Algiers (Algeria), Marsa Matrouh (Egypt), Tricase (Italy) and Zarzis (Tunisia).
The fishermen talked and discussed the fishing tackle used in their respective communities, especially regarding the rules governing the size of the meshes and the width of the meshes.
Another topic of discussion were the biological shutdown periods foreseen for some fish species and the situation concerning the foreseen compensation, guaranteeing the livelihood of the fishermen, during this period.
Webport is a virtual port that offers the possibility of meeting and sharing experiences with Mediterranean coastal communities. It is designed by CIHEAM Bari and financed by the Italian Development Cooperation Agency under the NEMO program.
