International day of women working in the sectors related to the sea

On March 10, 2018, Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco hosted the third edition of the International Day of Moroccan Women operating in the sectors related to the sea”. According to a statement by the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) – Directorate of Morocco organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport, Logistics and Water, the meeting was held under the slogan “The Blue Economy: which place for Moroccan women?”.

The theme of this session was chosen to link to the overall vision of the Africa’s Integrated Maritime Strategy (2050 AIM Strategy), to promote the creation of wealth in the oceans and seas of the African continent.

This day, which is part of the commemoration of the International Women’s Day, was aimed at celebrating the courage and perseverance of Moroccan women who had played an important role in the development of different regions of Morocco. It is also an opportunity to present the WISTA Morocco Awards, as well as the results of a study on the work of “Women in the Framework”.
