Adjustment of small artisanal fishing
At the initiative of the Department of Maritime Fisheries, was initiated an adjustment procedure for small-scale small-scale fishing that will commit a package of 18 million DH. Around 3100 boats will be equipped with fish storage boxes complying with the standards established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations. Each boat will have 3 boxes, on which will be engraved the serial number, the number of the boat and the identification of the relative port. In addition, each fisherman will be provided with a special cover for octopus fishing.
The project to upgrade the small fishing, named Pack Mawarid, launched in 2008 in Morocco as part of the Ibhar project, provides in particular the equipment of small-scale boats, with the aim of preserving the quality of fish products. The first area targeted by this program was the Dakhla region, where in 2013 about 6600 boats have benefited from the supply of the boxes.
