The fishing fleet in the Port of Tripoli

The fishing port of Mina-Tripoli is one of the largest fishing ports in Lebanon. Inside there are around 600 vessels representing 22% of all fishing vessels in Lebanon. Most of the fishing fleet consists of vessels under 12 meters in length and some vessels between 12 and 15 meters in length. The artisanal fishing vessels are the 70% of the total, while the rest are boats for sport fishing and yachting.

The fishing activity is mainly a coastal one, carried out within a few miles from the coast. Crews are usually composed by 3 fishermen between 30 and 70 years old (there is rarely a fisherman in the area who is under the age of 25), who earn an average of $ 15 a day. The daily catch rate is around 7 kg per person.

50% of fishermen live in Mina-Tripoli, near the port, while the rest lives in different locations around Tripoli.

WEBPORT is the digital port of the Mediterranean. It is designed and edited by CIHEAM Bari. It started in 2014 with the support of the Italian Agency for Cooperation to Development.

The pages of Albania and Montenegro were created and implemented as part of the CO.CO.TOUR project funded by the INTERREG IPA CBC Italy - Albania - Montenegro program.
