Management Fishery Organization (MFO) suspended by the Ministry of agriculture
Management Fishery Organization (MFO) in Vlora has been suspended by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishery Department. The reason is that MFO didn’t accomplish his duties and responsibilities established by the Co-management Plan signed by the parties.
After this decision, the Chairman of Vlora MFO, Mr. Mezan Mezani claimed that the decision was not legal. For this reason, he opened a case against the Ministry of Agriculture and required the revocation of the provision.
On the other side, all the fishermen (marine and costal) are requiring to the Fishery Inspectorate of Vlora to lead the process of reorganization of MFO to improve fishery situation in Vlora bay.
The main and urgent request from coastal fishermen is the establishment of a dedicated port for their vessels. All parties are negotiating with national and local institutions to find the better solution for the fishermen.
