The tornado of solidarity

“The smallest gesture of each of us may seem like only a drop in the sea, but we have the strength to make it a tsunami, working together”. Once again the words pronounced by Grammenos Mastrojeni, Italian diplomat and Coordinator for the eco-sustainability of the Italian Cooperation for Development, on the occasion of the Blue Land Day 2018 event, took shape.

Sunday, December 9, 2018, in the Port of Tricase, many local associations have arranged to clean up together the small beach and the docks of the port from the garbage left behind by the terrible tornado that hit the area.

The intervention was coordinated by the Magna Grecia Mare Association and by Clean Up Association, which has been dealing with the cleaning of the areas of the territory that are in a state of decay. Cultural and sporting associations and simple citizens have taken part in the initiative driven by a strong spirit of solidarity and love for the sea and the environment.

All the collected waste has been differentiated by type and stored in containers, made available following the atmospheric event, by the Municipality of Tricase, to be then sent for subsequent disposal.
