NEMO WEBINAR | Models of management of fishermen’s associations in the Mediterranean

A new online meeting was held on September 19, 2018, between the coastal communities that animate WEBPORT, the digital port that connects and brings together the communities of Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.

The theme chosen for the meeting “Models of management of fishermen’s associations in the Mediterranean” wanted to respond to a specific request from the community of Marsa Matrouh, interested in deepening this topic.

The representatives of the fishermen’s cooperatives of Tricase and of the neighboring countries were invited to the meeting to support the discussion but also as a concrete example of the management of these forms of association.

Together with the participants the main aspects of the cooperatives or fishermen’s associations in the Mediterranean were summarized and the similarities and differences analyzed in relation to the activities carried out, the financial aspects and the problems were analyzed.

Webinars are part of the activities of the NEMO Program, which is supported by the General Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and is implemented by CIHEAM Bari.
