NEMO WEBINAR | Fishermen and coastal community towards a sustainable management of the environment
The coastal communities of Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Italy met again on the digital port WEBPORT for a online seminar entitled “Fishermen and coastal communities towards sustainable management of the environment“.
The aim of the seminar was to reflect how the protection of the environment and the sea can have important economic effects and bring significant increases in incomes of coastal communities. At the same time, the Webinar was aimed to increase awareness of the importance of raising awareness of the respect for the environment, not just the fishermen, who are already sensitive to the subject but, above all, the other social groups.
A quote by Grammenos Mastrojeni, host of the Blue Land Day Tricase 2018, can be the perfect synthesis of the determinations of the Webinar, shared by all the communities present: “The smallest gesture of each of us may seem only a drop in the sea, but we have the force to make it a tsunami, working together “.
WEBPORT is the digital platform designed by Ciheam Bari, animated and coordinated by the MARE Outpost, its peripheral headquarters in the Port Museum of Tricase, realized within the NEMO program, supported by the General Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Affairs Foreign and International Cooperation and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by Ciheam Bari for the sustainable development of Mediterranean coastal communities.
