On a mission, from Tricase to Matrouh
From November 26 to December 2, 2018, the Matrouh community hosted the Italian delegation on a mission to share and exchange good practices in the small-scale fishing sector.
In the Italian delegation there were two fishermen from the port of Tricase, experts in techniques of fishing for swordfish and diversification of fishing activities.
During the mission, the experts were able to visit the headquarters of the Matrouh Fishermen’s Association to compare the management system of this association with that of the fishermen’s cooperatives in Italy, a topic already debated during the Webinar “Models for the management of associations of fishermen in the Mediterranean“, held last September 19th, at the specific request of the Egyptian community.
The visit to the port and the fish market of Matrouh also allowed the identification of the main fish species of the area.
An exchange of experiences and bridges of friendship and dialogue already started thanks to Webport, the digital port created by CIHEAM Bari, as part of the NEMO program and supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and the General Directorate for development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
