Blue Ports 2017

On Saturday 20th of May 2017, the “Blue Ports 2017” initiative was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries. The aims were the developing of responsible fishing and sustainable aquaculture and the promoting of enhancement and integration of ports and fishing activities into local socio-economic growth.

Among the news of this edition, the Department of Fisheries launched an information campaign. The first beneficiaries of the fishing-tourism authorizations had carried out the first operation of boarding passengers on board their boats.

Also during the event, the direct sale of fishes and aquaculture products was organized in the ports of Algiers and El Djamila, guaranteeing to consumers a fresh product at a lower price.

The “Blue Ports 2017” operation was also marked by the beginning of the red tuna and sardine fishing campaign.
