The Orange Fest in Southern Albania

The Orange Fest, the event organized every year to celebrate and promote the Albanian oranges produced in the area, was held on 17th and 18th November 2018, in the south of Albania.

The event, which is very important for producers to make their products known, is also an opportunity for the Southern communities to present and propose their traditional foods and in particular orange based sweets.

The event aims to underline the economic importance of this crop for the south of Albania and recognize the value of an activity that is handed down from generation to generation, as emphasized by the Minister of Tourism and the Environment, during the event.

The Orange Fest brought together, again this year, numerous people from every city and village in the south. Seminars, exhibitions, games and many other activities animated the event, including performances of dramas and popular songs, organized by the students of the schools in the area.

In the section “Meeting with the ancient monuments”, dedicated to making known the importance of the monuments and the main natural attractions of Albania, was illustrated the story of the castle of Ali Pasha Tepelena, which contributed to the importance of the bay of Porto Palermo.

WEBPORT is the digital port of the Mediterranean. It is designed and edited by CIHEAM Bari. It started in 2014 with the support of the Italian Agency for Cooperation to Development.

The pages of Albania and Montenegro were created and implemented as part of the CO.CO.TOUR project funded by the INTERREG IPA CBC Italy - Albania - Montenegro program.
