The International Center for Agriculture visits the Desert Research Center

On November 18, 2018, a delegation from the International Center for Agriculture visited the Desert Research Center – DRC, in Matrouh, to identify the main agricultural activities of the Governorate.

During the visit, Dr. Ashraf Al-Sadek presented the main activities of the Desert Research Center and the projects implemented in the area, including the projects of the Italian Cooperation, Marsadev and Nemo Egypt.

The MARSADEV project – Matrouh Rural Sustainable Development Project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by CIHEAM Bari, in partnership with the Desert Research Center of the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, intends to improve the conditions of life in the rural communities of the north-west coast of Egypt, through the rehabilitation, protection and promotion of natural resources and the enhancement of the main agricultural crops.

The NEMO Egypt project, activated by CIHEAM Bari and financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, aimed to promote the socio-economic development of coastal and rural communities in Egypt, in particular in the Governorate of Matrouh, increasing the awareness and skills of the communities.
