Oyster Festival in Oualidia
It was held from 16th to 19th August 2018 in Oualidia (Morocco) the Festival of oysters (Le Festival des huîtres), organized on the initiative of the Provincial Association of Cultural, Social and Sports Affairs of the province of Sidi Bennour.
The festival, now in its sixth edition, aims to highlight the ecological, cultural and tourist potential of this beautiful city, as stated by the Prefecture of the province of Sidi Bennour.
The festival saw the organization of a Carnival, in the most important streets of the city, accompanied by folklore performances to enhance the local cultural heritage. A parade of local pleasure boats, on the beach of Oualidia, instead was organized to highlight the maritime heritage of the tourist area, located on the Atlantic Ocean between the cities of El Jadida and Safi.
Numerous events were organized during the event, including a scientific symposium on the theme “Oysters, between ecological importance and investment for development”, which saw the participation of university researchers and specialists in mussel farming.
