71 new fishery officers to contrast illegal fishing
To contrast illegal fishing and implement the resolutions of the Ministry Council meeting specifically related to fisheries, held on 12 November 2015, and with regard to the assignment to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries of the fishery officers who will be trained by the Ministry of National Defense, the allocation of 71 fishery officers was formalized on Friday 02 February 2018 at the Ministry headquarters.
The length of the traineeship was set at 8 weeks, in which trainees are subject to the laws of schools and military training centres, as direct soldiers.
The training programme includes theoretical courses in sea-related areas and practical lessons and exercises.
As a reminder, fishery officers have not been assigned for decades and this has contributed to aggravate and spread IUU fishing activities.
