Celebration of World International Tourism Day

The World International Tourism Day, instituted by the General Assembly of United Nations, was celebrated in Vlora, in line with the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Across the world this Day was dedicated to assess the present contribution of tourism to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In Vlora region, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment organized several activities focused on sustainable development and sustainable use of marine habitats. The main target group of these activities were fishermen, as they are the main economic actors who use marine habitats. The main objectives of Vlora and Himara Municipalities are to promote sustainable fishery and to use fishing as an attraction for tourism.

WEBPORT is the digital port of the Mediterranean. It is designed and edited by CIHEAM Bari. It started in 2014 with the support of the Italian Agency for Cooperation to Development.

The pages of Albania and Montenegro were created and implemented as part of the CO.CO.TOUR project funded by the INTERREG IPA CBC Italy - Albania - Montenegro program.
