The first seawater desalination plant in Tunisia
The first plant for the desalination of sea water, in Tunisia, was inaugurated on Wednesday, May 2, by the Head of Government Youssef Chahed.
The plant, built in Djerba, will provide drinking water to residents of the islands and surrounding areas, until 2035.
A Ministerial declaration, released on the same day, announced that similar projects will be launched in the Zarat region, in the Gabes governorate, as well as in Sfax and Sousse.
