Fishing with traps in Lebanon
The traps are a traditional fishing gear very common in Lebanon. Each boat also owned 40-50 traps, but they were used two at a time. Every day, the fishermen withdraw the ones from the day before and two more went down. They were round in shape and constructed in metal and bronze wire. They were usually baited with salted sardines and were usually used for catching demersal fish. They were used mainly in spring and summer. In the port of Mina-Tripoli there is a craft company that still makes the traps, today.
